The Wellington City Council arts centre will house studios, arts offices, exhibition spaces, hireable creative rooms, residencies and public programmes.
Toi Pōneke has supported Wellington artists for more than two decades from its old Abel Smith Street home. "We've outgrown the old building," director Helen Park said. "Market Lane lets us run more residencies, more public programmes, and gives the public a proper street-facing gallery."
The new centre opens to the public on 28 June with a free three-day launch programme.
